Marine Ich & Velvet activeID
(COMING MID-2025)
Identify active infections caused by C. irritans and/or A. ocellatum, the microbes responsible for marine ich and velvet.
Accurate and rapid ID from home allows for effective and efficient treatment.
How It Works
Three Simple Steps to Accurate Detection
While the team works hard to develop the first set of retail tests, all tests will be based on the company's U.S. Patent-Pending technology for aquatic analytical testing.
Below is a brief overview of the technolgy:
Collect (~5 mins)
Tailored water sample collection from various environments such as freshwater, wastewater, and marine ecosystems.
1
Amplify (~20 mins)
Rapid DNA and RNA amplification in less than one hour, ensuring precise identification of the target pathogen.
2
Detect (~10 mins)
Detection using custom lateral flow assays, providing accessible and specific results.
3
In-Depth Look
Step 1: Collect
A water sample is collected from the target pathogen ecosystem suspected to contain the target and processed accordingly.
This process is tailored to the specific type of sample, whether it is from freshwater, wastewater, or marine environments.
- Customized collection process for different environments
- Ensures accurate sampling for precise diagnostics
- Suitable for various aquatic settings

Step 2: Amplify
Using advanced DNA and RNA amplification techniques, the organismal DNA or RNA is amplified within an hour near or at room temperature.
This step ensures that amplification only occurs if the target was present in the collected sample, preventing false positives.
- Rapid amplification within an hour
- High specificity to avoid false positives
- Essential for accurate pathogen identification
In-Depth Look
Step 3: Detect
The sample is then applied to and analyzed by a custom lateral flow assay.
Positive tests develop a dark line on the strip, while negative tests do not, providing clear and specific results.
Instead of a strip-based analysis, tests can be used with laboratory fluorometers for quantification.
- Clear, accessible results similar to at-home tests
- Customizable for on-site and laboratory use
- Option to quantify the analyte for more detailed analysis
